Founded in 2018, Studio M Hair began as a single-chair studio with a simple belief — that great hair is personal. Tucked away on Fossgate in the centre of York, we've grown into a close-knit team of award-winning stylists united by a love of their craft.

Maria Ellis

Founder & Creative Director

Maria trained in London before returning to her native Yorkshire to open Studio M in 2018. With over fifteen years behind the chair and a string of regional colour awards, she's known for natural-looking balayage and precision cutting that grows out beautifully.

Senior Stylist & Colourist

Sophie specialises in lived-in colour and bridal styling. She joined the team in 2020 and has quickly become our go-to for creative colour corrections and occasion updos — with a warm, reassuring chair-side manner clients adore.
